Ransom
Ransom earned three qualifying scores at Training Level, so he and Katherine have qualified for the CDS Championship Show to be held near Sacramento. They won two classes, pinned second and were third in the Cornerstone Championships the first day.
Fair Weather
Fair Weather and Mark Watring competed very successfully at the IJF 4 Year-Old Western Regionals Jumper Futurity. At the IJF 4 Year-Old Futurity, the young horses are scored in three catagories: Type and Movement, Consistent Performance and Grand Prix Prospect. Fair Weather’s two beautifully executed rounds earned him the Reserve Champion in Grand Prix Prospect and Consistent Performance. Watch for Fair Weather in the IJF 5 Year-Old Division in 2010. Fair Weather and Mark won a .95M Jumper class at the LA International Jumping Festival. The team earned the Reserve Champion honors in the .95M Jumpers at Gold Coast 6 and were well pinned in every class in the .90M Jumpers at Pebble Beach Classic
Bellagio
Lago and Mark have performed consistently throughout the summer in the 1.20M Jumpers. They were Reserve Champion in the 1.20M Jumpers at Gold Coast 6. They were also well pinned in the division at the Oaks Fall Tournament.
Bay Rum
Rum has successfully moved up in the jumper divisions with Mark throughout the summer. Rum was consistently in the ribbons in the .95M Jumpers at Gold Coast 6 and the 1.0M Jumpers at the Oaks Fall Tournament. At Pebble Beach Classic I Rum won in the .90M Jumpers. He pinned in every class at that show.
Blaise
At the Oaks Fall Tournament Blaise and Nancy won the 1.10M Speed Class. The team was 1.10M Jumper Reserve Champion at Gold Coast 6, with a first and third in the division. They also won the 1.10M Jumper Stake at Gold Coast 6. Blaise and Nancy were 1.05M Jumper Champion at the Pebble Beach Classic I, winning a first and second in the division.
Golden Pilot
Pilot made his AA show debut at Pebble Beach Classic I where he was Baby Green Champion. He and Nancy took home the blue in two classes.
China Blue’s Maple Side Magic Flute
Magic Flute swept the Pony Hunter Breeding at the Pebble Beach Classic Series. Magic Flute, handled by Nancy, won all six Pony Yearling Classes and was Best Young Pony under every judge, again winning the title six times.
Summer’s Golden Light
Summer and Nancy were Pre-Green Reserve Champion at the LA International Jumping Festival. Summer was well pinned in the Pre-Green Hunters at Pebble Beach Classic I, Gold Coast 6 and The Oaks Fall Tournament. Summer was also consistently at the top of the pins in the Low Hunters at the Oaks Fall Tournament. With Miss Maggie Bass, Summer was Modified Children’s Hunter Champion at Pebble Beach with three blues over fences and a second under saddle. Maggie and Summer were Reserve Champion in the Modified Children’s Equitation Division at Pebble Beach Classic I. Maggie and Summer earned both first and second place honors in the division. Summer and Maggie were Reserve Champion Modified Children’s Hunter at Gold Coast 6, again with a win over fences and a second under saddle.
Royal Road
Royal Road and Nancy were Baby Green Champion at the LA International Jumping Festival, with two wins, two seconds and a third. Royal won, was second, third twice and fourth in the Schooling Hunters with Nancy at the Oaks Fall Tournament. Royal Road with Nancy was Low Hunter Champion at Gold Coast 6, winning two over fences and second in the hack.
Impresario
Imp made his 2009 debut at Pebble Beach Classic I with Nancy. He was .80M Jumper Champion, garnering a win and second place. At Pebble Beach Classic II, Imp was again Champion in the .80M Jumpers with two wins in the division, with only two starts. Imp was the Pebble Beach Circuit Grand Champion in the .80M Jumpers.

China Blue's Maple Side Magic Flute
China Blue's Maple Side Magic Flute was Best Young Pony in his first time out. He also won the Pony Yearling class.Nancy handled Magic Flute.
Bay Rum
Bay Rum and Mark moved up to the .85M Jumpers where he again turned in double clean rounds and pinned twice.
Buccaneer, handled by Nancy (Baccarat X Lutece) won the Yearling class in her debut in the show ring. Buccaneer is a full sibling to Fair Weather.
Fair Weather and Mark moved up to the .90M Jumpers where he pinned third and sixth. He was also third in the one .85M class he competed in.
Blaise was third in the $500 1.10 M Jumper Stake with Nancy in the irons.
Gold Coast 3, May 15-17, 2009
Blaise, with Nancy up, was Champion in the 1.10M Jumpers, with a first and second.
Summer's Golden Light made her debut showing 3'3" with Nancy riding. She was Reserve Champion in the Open Hunters, winning one round, pinning second in the under saddle and third in the second over fences round.
Fudge Sunday moved up to the 2'9" Low Hunters where he earned a second with Mark.
Bay Rum, with Mark up, made his show debut in the .80M Jumpers. Bay Rum turned in double clean rounds in each class. Rum pinned in two of the three classes.
Fair Weather made his jumper debut in the .85M Jumpers where he was fourth. Mark was in the irons.

Rodney (China Blue’s Maple Side Magic Flute)
China Blue Farm is thrilled to announce the purchase of the colt Rodney (Maple Side Wish List x Maple Side Musical) from Carol Lush and Maple Side Farm. Watch for Rodney in the Pony Hunter Breeding in 2009. We were also fortunately enough to purchase his dam, Maple Side Musical (Magical x Dawns Early Light, a.k.a. Gayfield's Hats Off Teleri).
Summer’s Golden Light
Summer’s Golden Light (All the Gold x Twilight Winds) moved up to the Pre-Green Hunters in 2009 after a very successful year in Baby Green Hunters in 2008. Summer and Nancy Frost earned multiple championships in the Baby Green Hunters last year, including at the National Preview, Gold Coast 7 and the Los Angeles International Jumping Festival. In her early outings in the Pre-Green Hunters this year, Summer has been nicely pinned. She was in the ribbons each week she competed at the Thermal Desert Circuit.

Fair Weather
Fair Weather (Baccarat x Lutece) moved from the in-hand ring to showing over fences in 2009 with Mark Watring in the irons. He started his over fences career at the LAEC Opener where he was second over fences in Baby Green Hunters. He was well pinned throughout the Thermal Desert Circuit in both the Baby Green Hunters and Training Hunters. Fair Weather won several under saddle classes. He was Reserve Champion Baby Green Hunter at DC 7.
Fair Weather will have his first crop of foals in 2009. He is available for breeding this season. Please see his stallion page to learn more about Fair Weather and his lineage.
Fudge Sunday
Fudge Sunday (Man in Black x Kenya) made his show debut in October 2008 with Mark Watring up, winning in the Baby Green Hunters his first time out. He showed lightly through the fall of 2008, pinning at every show. Fudge Sunday began the 2009 season at Thermal, showing in the Baby Green Hunters and Training Hunters. He pinned very well at each show. At DC 7, he was Champion in both the Baby Green Hunters and Training Hunters, winning six over fences classes! Fudge Sunday was Grand Circuit Champion Baby Green Hunter and Second Half Reserve Champion Baby Green Hunter.
Fudge Sunday has his first crop of foal in 2009. He has two lovely fillies on the ground. Cocoa is out of Absolutely Elegant, a Thoroughbred mare. His second foal, Caramel, is out of our Thoroughbred mare, Lady M. Fudge has passed on his kind temperament to both of his offspring. To see photos of the fillies visit our Offspring page.

Bellagio

Bellagio (Aristos B x Bel Canto) continued his winning ways with Mark Watring in 2009. Bellagio was Grand Circuit Champion Level 4 Jumper, Second Half Champion Level 4 Jumper and Mid-Circuit Reserve Champion Level 4 Jumpr. He was Champion at DC 3 and 7 and Reserve Champion at DC 5.
China Blue’s Touch of Frost
China Blue’s Touch of Frost made her show ring debut in the Pre-Children’s Pony Hunters at Thermal this year with Alice Kuhns up. She won in the under saddle and pinned right at the top of the pins multiple times. China Blue’s Touch of Frost was Mid-Circuit Reserve Champion Pre-Children’s Pony Hunters.
Blaise

Blaise (Kabarret x Pretty Stone) finished up 2008 as Champion 1.0 Meter Jumper at the Los Angeles National Horse Show with Nancy Frost. In 2009 Blaise won two classes in the 1.0 Meter Jumpers at the LAEC Opener. At Thermal, Blaise moved up to the 1.10 Meter Jumpers (Level 3) where he won classes at both DC 3 and DC 7, as well as clear rounds in every Table II class throughout the circuit.

Raffles
After successfully competing in the Pre-Green Hunters with Nancy Frost in 2008, Raffles (Aristos B x China Rose) moved up to First Year Green Hunters in 2009. At the LAEC Opener, Raffles was second and third in the Green Working Hunters. At Thermal, Raffles pinned throughout the circuit in the First Year Green Working Hunters and Adequan Hunters.
Royal Road

After a hiatus, Royal Road (Viscount x China Rose) returned to the show ring in 2009. Ridden by Nancy Frost, Royal Road moved from the Training Hunters to Pre-Green Hunters at Thermal. Royal Road pinned every week he competed at during the Desert Circuit. We are very excited to have Royal back in the show ring.
